Why we started IEM
We started India Environmental Matters (IEM) as a response to #DraftEIA2020. While we continue to track developments around the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification of India closely, we have diversified. Through this platform, we share our research on matters of pollution control, public engagement in environmental policy making, resource governance and the uneven distribution of risks and benefits of development.

Meenakshi Kapoor
Meenakshi is an independent researcher exploring the issues of environmental compliance and natural resource governance for more than a decade. In the past few years, she has tracked the working of the coastal zone management authorities, pollution control boards and similar institutions closely. Besides writing on environmental policy, she has reported from Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat on women’s farming rights, infrastructure development and mining.
Krithika A Dinesh
Krithika is trained in law and has experience in researching on environmental governance and policy issues. She previously worked with communities affected with environmental injustices, particularly in Gujarat and Odisha. She also works on labour rights issues affecting workers in the informal economy.
